Elk Mountain

This is one of the closest hikes to my front door so it stands to reason that I hike it a lot.

Most of the trail is in forest and there's really no view until just below the summit. As you get closer to the peak there are many short cuts  but I find it best to take the longest route as it can be pretty steep otherwise. It can take more than an hour and a half of high effort to reach the open ridge but the views of the surrounding mountains and  the city of Chilliwack are worth it. Wild flowers cover much of the summit but it's a short season.
